〜に対して (toward / in contrast to)
に対して points at a target of an attitude, or sets up a contrast: “toward X” / “whereas X”.
客に対して丁寧に話してください。
Please speak politely toward customers. (target of attitude)
質問に対して、すぐ答えました。
I answered the question at once. (response target)
兄は静かだ。それに対して、弟はよく話す。
My older brother is quiet. In contrast, the younger one talks a lot.
に対する is the noun-modifying form: 環境に対する関心 — concern toward the environment.
