Presenting Arguments and Evidence

Introducing claims:
  • ~という見方みかたもあります。 - "There is also this perspective..."
  • ~という報告ほうこくがあります。 - "There is a report that..."
Supporting with evidence:
  • データから分かるように、~ - "As is clear from the data..."
  • ~という統計とうけいが示しています。 - "The statistics demonstrate that..."

Diplomatic Disagreement

Polite but clear opposition:
  • ご意見はよく分かりますが、異なる見方みかたもあります。 - "I understand your opinion, but there is another perspective."
  • その点に関しては、異議いぎがあります。 - "On that point, I must respectfully disagree."

Seeking Middle Ground

Finding compromise:
  • 両方の考えかんがえ一理いちりあります。 - "Both ideas have merit."
  • その場合ばあい、~という選択肢はどうでしょうか。 - "In that case, how about this option?"
