~ている (Continuous/Habitual in Formal Context)
Pattern: [Verb て] + いる
In formal writing, often written as ~ており or ~ておる
- 現在、私たちは様々なプロジェクトに取り組んでおります。 - "Currently, we are working on various projects."
- 状況は改善しており、希望が見えています。 - "The situation is improving, and hope is emerging."
~だけ / ~ばかり (Only/Merely)
~だけ (Only - straightforward):
- これだけの成果を上げるのに、大変な努力が必要でした。 - "It took enormous effort to achieve only this much result."
~ばかり (Only/Merely - with emphasis):
- 失敗ばかりしていました。 - "I was doing nothing but failing."
~ため / ~として (For the Sake Of / As)
~ため (For / For the sake of):
- 環境保全のため、我々は一致団結しました。 - "For the sake of environmental conservation, we united."
~として (In the capacity of / As):
- リーダーとして、責任ある決定を下します。 - "As a leader, I make responsible decisions."
