Master transition words, discourse markers, and connective patterns essential for coherent writing and speech.
~が、/ ~ため、(But / Because)
~が、(But) - Formal contrast:
- 難しいが、挑戦します。 - "It's difficult, but I will challenge it."
~ため、(Because/In order to) - Formal reason:
- 知識を深めるため、毎日勉強します。 - "To deepen knowledge, I study daily."
~から、/ ~それで (So / Therefore)
~から、(Therefore/From that):
- 仕事が終わったから、帰ります。 - "The work is done, so I'm going home."
~それで (And so/By that means):
- 雨が降りました。それで、試合が中止になりました。 - "It rained. And so, the game was cancelled."
~また (Also / Furthermore / However)
Multiple meanings depending on context:
- 日本語ができます。また、英語もできます。 - "I can do Japanese. Also, I can do English."
- 完璧ですが、また改善の余地があります。 - "It's perfect, however there's still room for improvement."
